I Heard Everything

When I was in class 4, I was in the swing(Jhula) like just another toddler experiencing the new found joy of oscillatory motion.
Going back & forth, with full gusto!

My uncles broached a sensitive topic. They started talking in English, oblivious of the fact that kids of my age could also understand English.
That was just so naive, on multiple levels! I heard everything.
Yet I didn’t respond or react. I kept enjoying my swing.

Maybe I learnt to selectively not respond from this incident!

I met Purna, while she was almost about to alight from the metro train. It was not out of the blue. We had coordinated that, to the T.

I just didn’t give her the agency she deserved. In the hopes of bringing fun, to the otherwise mundane lives of ours, I chose spontaneity.

I’ve always fancied my choice of spontaneity & extempore, over the carefully curated version of life & speech led by most folks. Of course, excess of most things are/is bad!
I just feel that we might have exceptions to this thumb-rule quite often than we realise.

So, Purna was visibly a bit displeased.
Perhaps, she had something else planned in her mental itinerary.

We kept on talking on our metro ride back to the place where I thought it would be more appropriate to spend some meaningful time.

She kept on bringing new conversation pointers, and I got immersed in them. It was as if I was trying to hold arrows coming towards me in a basket.

And, she started to complain that either am I not listening to her or I have a hearing problem.

How do I tell her that 'I heard everything', I noticed everything, I took all the cues. I just chose not to respond to everything or at times I just wanted to confirm what she said.
Maybe to give her a chance to rephrase or choose a different topic to broach. Makes Sense?

I heard her joke about the 'fallen bread slice'.
'Kitna Gira Hua hai!' (How fallen is this slice of bread!)

I listened to the joke, smiled mentally, savoured it and didn't show any reaction.
She was unhappy about my lack of acknowledgement.
As if, I am just not interested in the conversation.

She wanted to know. She wanted the feedback. Did she also want approval? My approval?
Why so? Who am I? And, what does my approval mean to her?

Of course, if it was Validation which she was seeking, I'm at fault. Validation when sought, must be provided. I have learnt this from her.

Purna (पूर्णा or पूर्ण) in Hindi means Complete. She is complete. So, why she seeks my approval or anyone's approval?

Yes, I must hear everything what she says. I must listen to her like an obedient student. I must give her the agency, the power of choice when she deserves it.
We all keep learning & evolving. Maybe we are not  पूर्ण yet!

Of course! I heard Everything, Purna!

Tinder Date Story

““You don't get creative once everything is okay. In fact, we are creative because everything isn't okay (yet)” , Rohan repeats this line from a popular blog. He thinks of reconciling with his not so fantabulous life. The thought of it gyrates his mood to put his creative urges on a piece of paper. Rohan jots down everything. Everything which has bothered him”

“Ok, stop stop”, screams Devika. “Why the hell are you referring yourself with your name. That is so weird and trite. I have had enough of it in past. It has lost its charm”

“Devika, just listen! I’m narrating to you our story. How we met. How I met you. How we are here sitting side by side each other. Can’t I get over the top and act a bit melodramatic and cheesy?” states Rohan.

“Sorry Rohan, not interrupting you in between again” says an apologetic Devika with a sly gleam.

“So, Rohan starts giving every worry a written shape. Rohan knows he is boring for the regular Joe or Jill. He has never been so bothered about his lack of taste in music & gourmet food or his non-existent travel stories. He feels we all need to feel stimulation from within. Seeking the same from an outside stimuli is the last resort for the creatively oriented. Rohan feels whenever he is in need of an external agent to calm or excite himself, that is when he is at his worst. Cutting the long overdrawn philosophical hyperbole, let’s now jump to what he chances on.

Rohan realizes he has never made an attempt to do the “Can I buy a drink, lady” act. He is overwhelmed with this idea. He starts scrounging the internet for free tips on picking up women. While doing that, Rohan is dealing with thoughts of his lame & pathetic research. But, as our Rohan is, he never leaves a room for error when it comes to research for his personal satiation. So with all his newfound arsenal about , “How to buy a drink for women” & “seek indulgence” he proceeds to the mission.

I know Devika, this may all repel you and you may term Rohan a psycho. But, you know what? Day 1, Day 2, Day 3,....Day 11, all went by with Rohan buying drinks for himself and burning a huge hole in his pocket. There is a special name for people like Rohan. I must not utter that word.

Then it dawned to him. There is something called the online world of dating, where it is easy for people to act like Jack Sparrow. And, Rohan downloads Tinder.” completes an exhausted Rohan.

“How boring, Rohan. This is how we met. I already know this but I expected a better story from someone who calls himself a storyteller.” says Devika

“But it is truth. And as they say, Truth is stranger than fiction” retorts Rohan

“You know Rohan, I have read somewhere that never let truth come in the way of a good story” quips Devika

“Oh, wow! This first Tinder date is already giving me sparks. We have something going on” speaks Rohan

Rohan and Devika start having conversations about first date conversations. They had already broken the proverbial ice, and were dancing on it. Rohan started shooting his flurry of cheesy one-liners and made Devika blush like she has had never before. Apparently, it started a blushing competition. From a good distance also anybody could’ve said that Rohan was blushing in equal intensity if not less than Devika.

This is a thing about Rohan. Rohan has a 10-year old kid, a 16-year old girl and a 70-year old grandpa inside him. All of these personalities betray our 26 year old Rohan. Rohan has a sea of tranquility to hide them in his day-to-day business-as-usual proceedings. But at the first instance of intimacy with women, his emotional defenses collapses and he starts acting like a kid, girl or grandfather. This attracts women sometimes. So, Rohan always was never in dearth of women company. This however makes him a bad boyfriend. He is not the archetypical matured ladies’ man.

Rohan & Devika then started walking. So, their first dinner date was now already a walk-date. They exchanged glances. Devika held her gaze for a bit longer than Rohan, quite a few times. Still, this was a well contested fight. Tension was just building and they already had a chemistry.

“So, you write stories since when?” asked Devika

“I have been writing for the past 7 years now, Devika. It started for a weird reason & it started getting me into weird situations and I kept on it. Though, my relationship with writing has taken many twists & turns. I still rebound to writing after any emotional episode.” expresses Rohan

Devika puts her head on his shoulder and says , “I am sleepy Rohan”

“Shit! That’s the worst form of insult. You are bored to sleep. And, I thought we have a thing going on between us!” exclaims Rohan

“Walk me to home Rohan. You boring first date!” teases Devika tongue-in-cheek as her statement was as far from truth as sea is from the skies.

“Of! Course my beautiful young lady” speaks Rohan

Rohan escorts Devika to her 3rd floor flat and accepts the invitation to hang on for a bit. The invitation leads Rohan to explore Devika’s flat. Rohan crashes on her bed and starts reading the bookmarked “The Metamorphosis” lying on the bedside table.
…..

Rohan wakes up next day to find himself floating on a sea of golden water. He had mermaids all over the sea swimming around and smiling at him. He starts moving his hands and legs only to realise that it was a dream. He sees Devika sleeping on his shoulder. He gently caresses her hair, ear & kisses her head. And goes back to sleep.

I missed a flight

I know you must be thinking: "Who misses a flight?" , "How can someone miss a flight?" , ... But I missed one. My tryst with flight journeys have always been paralleled by emotional turmoils in my life. Yes!

So I had to board this flight from T1 Airport of Delhi (the old one). And, I was late by 10 minutes. Only explanation I can think of is "bad karma" as I was caught up in a highly unlikely traffic jam. Thinking about bad karma, this trip marks a lot of changes in my growing up. I am more than 25 years of age but I still need to mature a lot. I have to learn to deal with romantic pursuits in a better & sane manner. Yes, I did face troubles in my love life, yet again!

But this time, I was lucky enough to have a superb support system in the form of family and few very special friends. I would categorically like to thank this person I respect a lot for the time which she took out to free up my mind from the overhang. In this way, I discovered that there are always people who care for you, may be different sets of people at different times. Important aspect is that there are always people who like you. You just need to keep your senses receptive enough to feel it. Or else what is the difference between us, sentient beings and robots?

Summer Internship Experience - Taking it to the Next Level : Part 1

Rohan was pretty excited while stepping onto his new office. It was a necessary rite of passage for most of his batch-mates aka summer internship. To the contrary, Rohan had concocted many stories in his mind about the forthcoming two month experience.

Rohit’s precarious mannerisms were not a new thing for the bunch of his colleagues at his office. Pleasantries exchanged and formal introduction made way for some work. He was allotted to prepare a comparison table for various types of solar energy capturing technologies. He jumped into the sea with minimal assistance.

If you put in 35 minutes of work, 2 minutes of water-cooler break, 20 minutes of work and then 3 minutes of washroom break and repeat each of them in the very same order, it would be exactly the same as what Rohan was doing at the office for the first week. After the end of the first week, he had also spent one weekend which he thoroughly enjoyed but something was missing!

Getting past the Monday morning blues as he started to frantically search the internet for various solar technologies he heard a voice. Yes, a shrilling female voice. “Hi, this is my workstation” said an exquisitely dressed lady. “What? I have been working here for the last 1 week” stated Rohan. As it began so it must have an end. To their rescue came the Head of the office. “Jhanvi meet Rohan our new intern, and Rohan this is Jhanvi our Legal & Compliance Officer” introduced Mr. Sharma.

Rohan and Jhanvi sat beside each other. Two days passed and nothing happened except once Rohan politely declined an offer made by Jhanvi to have orbit chewing gum. He immediately regretted his move as a reflex.

---------

Jhanvi, do you know of any good place for lunch?” enquired Rohan. He gathered all his skills and charm to appear nonchalant with not much success. “Umm… have you tried 10 Downing Street?” asked Jhanvi. Rohan replied in negative. “Rohan, you must go there, it’s awesome” suggested Jhanvi. “Would you come with me” he uttered as if someone put those words on his tongue.

After thinking for a while Jhanvi accepts, “Yes, of course let’s have lunch”.

They have conversation on almost everything under the sun. Changing the world, working for helping the starving African children, following a set of principles and literary preferences were discussed to name a few. Everything seemed normal and just as a good lunch should go.

Jhanvi leans sideways, rest her elbow on the table and starts playing with her hair. “Now, that we know each other and are friends let’s take our friendship to the next level” suggests Jhanvi.

Rohan gives a puzzled face and waits for her to tell more about the “next level”. “Are you on Facebook?” asks Jhanvi.

Facebook Flirting

As Orkut Büyükkökten cries over the gradually decreasing popularity of Orkut, the smart users betraying Orkut and desperate attempts by Orkut of emulating facebook, online flirting moves on to facebook.

“Orkut is History…here is the link to my new facebook profile”.

I still remember the day when I started using Orkut and as I created my profile the first thing which I did was search all my crushes on Orkut, but I guess they were enjoying their life. (The more interesting your life becomes, the less time you spend on internet... and vice versa).
It just took two weeks of online activity to realize that beautiful, cute, sweet and hot girls do exist outside TV and Movies and they are real too! And may be accessible ;)

The hunt began…2007 2008 2009 and it is 2010 and the result, I’m still single, next step I have created facebook profile. I have a crush on Google but I’m betraying her as she didn’t get me a single girlfriend.
So far even facebook seems to have no solutions to my problems. I guess the problem is within me. Just have a look at the conversation below:

The girl uses a facebook application to find her next kisser. After getting the result she exclaims that the guy doesn’t even know how to kiss!
The guy having mini-orgasms starts flirting; the friends are having fun over this. The girl asks the boy to learn kissing!

God! Why it doesn’t happen to me? Why? Why?

If this was not enough, now facebook walls are flooded with photos of pretty girls and constant wooing by despos like me who “like” their photo and give inane comments like “sweet pic”, “nice pic”, “looking awesome”…

This time of the year it is more difficult for us-the IIT KGP fellas with Spring fest and Kshitij giving us various types of complexes. It is very difficult to even come out of your room as the campus is full of hot and pretty chicks who are of course not approachable.
This situation is nicely summed up by

“…Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink…”

Taken from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and also pointed out by Shrey Goyal.

The lesson which I learnt from last two spring seasons is that the best thing to do in fest season is to sleep in your room and be away from that urge to approach a girl and fail in the process. Gosh! We hate failures…the IITians!
Perhaps, this is the only field we are losers.

The level of frustration can be gauged by a simple example; this is the institute which was involved with DPS R K Puram in that infamous MMS Scandal.

Now that Café Coffee Day has finally started its outlet at KGP, the jealousy will decrease as the pairs will get some space which would be avoided by poor singles who are neither blessed with fortune nor girls.

However, this adds to the things which I would miss in my college days, the list is:

1. No Girlfriend.
2. Not went for any date, I’m talking about a real date and not this.
3. Never went to café Coffee day with any girl.

"To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing" ; we live in a constant hope with full enthusiasm waiting for that single girl who will stop us from watching 300 movies a year, 10 seasons of friends 10 times and even more, looking “for girls” in facebook and writing blog posts like these!

Nuptial Crisis and Modern Indian Marriages

When a film like “What's Your Raashee?” releases, Chetan Bhagat’s new (4th) book’s release date is just a few hours away which draws inspiration from his inter-state love marriage, your youngest uncle finally (yes finally!) is ready to “tie the knot” next month and you have recently turned 21, i.e., now a legally eligible bachelor (*wink*), the most pertinent question which is likely to haunt you could be necessarily related to your marriage. Hence, the result is a fictional account on marriage!

Rajesh, a typical NRI who left India at the age of 21 in pursuit of financial stability and exotic lifestyle after doing his engineering from “BITS Pilani” was worried while returning back to Lucknow after 5 long years. His disturbed mood was due to the pressure from parents’ side to get married soon. Firstly, he was not at all ready for marriage and secondly, he didn’t have much faith in the institution of arranged marriage in India which was his only route to get married so soon as he haven’t dated a single girl in his life including his 5 year of stay at United States.

Scene of “Modern Arranged Marriage” in India:
A girl/boy is found through some so-called reliable sources like matchmaker, matrimonial sites, or even relatives and friends. Till this point, it’s completely comprehensible but the real problem starts now. The girl/boy in consideration should be of same caste, different clan (Gotra) and preferably of same state too. After these two screening stages, an astrologist is consulted to match the horoscopes of the prospective bride and groom and after a green signal from the expert the parents fix an almost blind date in which the boy and girl have to give a final agreement or reject the proposal. The matching of horoscopes could also be done after the approval of both the sides.
This weird looking algorithm to arranged marriage really skewed Rajesh’s belief about the traditional marriage in India. However, he also wanted to have a partner to fulfil his physical and emotional cravings so he agreed.

Why against “Arranged Marriage”?
Educated youth like Rajesh not necessarily NRI’s do find arranged marriage strange but lack the guts and conviction to revolt against the wishes of parents and succumb to the emotional pressure. They simply don’t like the whole complex procedure of marriage, in which clan, caste, state and some imaginary concept like horoscope is prioritised much higher than the compatibility of boy and girl.

Why “Love marriage” is not an option?
There is a concept called maturity and lack of experience. Supporters of “Arranged Marriage” argue that people in their 20s are not matured enough to use their inadequate experience to choose the right bride/groom. There is one more concept of “surprises and new experiences”. They say when people don’t know each other before marriage, everything is new in marriage and each day brings surprises which strengthens the nuptial bond compared to “Love Marriage” in which there is no such surprise as they say!

However, I say “are maturity and experience that important”? Haven’t they heard that “Experience is a comb which life gives us when we are bald”?... In metropolitan India, teenagers are generally well aware about their career-plans, so are able to convince their parents in contrast to sub-urban and rural folks. This is where the actual problem lies!

That “surprises and new experiences” concept could also turn a nightmare to deal with as all surprises and new experiences are not pleasant.

BTW, how could I forget to mention the witty sugarcane analogy?
Sometimes, parents are equally wise enough to convince their sons/daughters to take the path of “Arranged Marriage”. The sugarcane analogy goes like this. The sugarcane is meatiest and sweetest at the bottom and loses its thickness and sweetness as we go up, and in love marriages it’s like eating the sugarcane from the bottom. So, it feels very romantic and perfect at the beginning but gradually differences start coming and it is similar to chewing the tasteless thin sugarcane which is only water at the top. In arranged marriage, it is the reverse and surprisingly it works for most of the Indian couples!

So, Rajesh was confused and was going through what we call “Pre marital blues”.

Rajesh tweeted: I don’t want to marry :(

Shriya replied: @Rajesh what happened?

Rajesh: @Shriya “Arranged Marriage sucks” and I don’t have a girlfriend :(

Shriya: @Rajesh heeheee!

Rajesh: @Shriya don’t laugh, help me with some ideas to escape this mess

(Phone Rings!)

Rajesh picked up the call. “Hey! How are you?” Shriya asked. Rajesh shared the
problem with her and Shriya said “Don’t worry! I’m coming to Lucknow in 3 days; we’ll sort out the problem. Bye! Take Care!” Shriya comforted Rajesh as he went back to his laptop.

Shriya tweeted: uploaded new photos @orkut (link).

Rajesh as every other internet user clicked the link but left the tab open and went to attend the call of nature.

Rajesh’s mother entered the room and looked at Shriya and found nobody in the room. She left the room shouting “Rajesh! Rajesh!”...

Rajesh sees her pictures and immediately memories of childhood started coming to him in flashes.

After 3 Days...

Rajesh and Shriya are talking at Rajesh’s room. Shriya tries to put some “desi-gyaan” into Rajesh’s thought process. Shriya sensed it all was going in vain.
“Do you love anyone? Crushes?” Shriya finally asked the most important question.
“No” Rajesh replied in a plaintive voice.
“I think you are in the wrong place then” Shriya tried to make some good logic
“Are you ready for marriage?” Shriya asked annoyingly
“Don’t know” Rajesh was getting more confused.

The whole conversation was being heard by Rajesh’s mother...

What followed next...?

Any guesses?

.....

To cut the long story short, Rajesh’s mother and father met Shriya’s parents, discussed all the matters. As a matter of coincidence, Shriya and Rajesh are of different clans and of same castes with matching horoscopes. Initially, Rajesh hesitated but soon his feelings for his first crush came to fore and he fell in love with Shriya.
Rajesh and Shriya lived happily ever after...

Lesson learnt:

It is either love or arranged, marriages are made in heaven. So, both have equal odds of succeeding. Ideally, one should leave everything to his/her fate and use his heart and a little bit of wisdom.
As with Rajesh and Shriya, your love could very well be arranged...

Free Rapidshare accounts contest and "Advantages of short height "

I know this is not an ideal way to rant about my height. I was just wondering about my Short heightedness and tweeted it through my twitter profile.
“There are many benefits of short height :P”
One of my tall friend tweets rather changes his facebook status
“There are many benefits of being tall :P”
This inspired me to think of some benefits of short height and I’m here.
Googled Information
1. Shorter people have faster reaction times, greater ability to accelerate body movements, stronger muscles in proportion to body weight, greater endurance, and the ability to rotate the body faster. They are also less likely to break bones in falling.
2. Shorter people are also less likely to require surgery for herniated spinal disks. In addition, shorter people are less likely to break a hip from falling.
3. Another advantage of smaller people is that they are less likely to die in auto crashes. One study found that people weighing less than 132 pounds had the lowest risk of dying or suffering serious injuries compared to bigger people.
My Experiences
I’ve a lot of them related to short height. I’ll list only benefits as promised.
1. Once, I was travelling all alone for the first time in my life. I know everything happens for the first time in life but still that was a big occasion for me. I was nervous. Things were done for me. I didn’t have to pack my stuffs, my mum did it. I didn’t have to book tickets, my father did it. I thought this would be fun exploring everything while enjoying the scenic beauty outside the window of train alone. I’d a test to give, so I opened my course books and acted to be quite busy as my fellow travel-buddies were quite older than me. The train stopped in a station, some strange people entered the coach. Those were the species I feared a lot on train journeys and this time I’d to handle them. Any guesses, who were they?
No, they were not goons, robbers or vendors. They were frightening “eunuchs”.
I was quite aware of their menace since my childhood days. One of them came towards our seat and...
Eunuch: Aye mere salman khan kuch dena.....arrey handsome!!!....(in hindi)
These were words used for few people around me and though these are compliments but it seemed very different under such circumstances and one of them came towards me and started staring me. I was awfully frightened....
Me: Papa bahar gaye hain (in hindi).....which means My father has gone outside and I don’t have money.
And I’m happy that I’ve used this trick of using my short height and innocence to trick these eunuchs quite a lot.

2.I don’t need lots of space in the car/bus/Train or in general anywhere in this world.
3.I don’t have to worry about 'mind your head' signs.
4.I can squeeze through crowds easily :p

Being small rocks, you can act all little and helpless so people do things for you

Marriages are Made in Heaven

A young man loves a woman; the love is also reciprocated by the lady. They have spent their most memorable college days together. The obvious question in your mind would be, "There are many love stories like this.......What's different?"
The story is about an IITian.
There are many IITians and merely this doesn't make the story different.
Okay, let me put the whole story in a different manner than what I decided before I started writing this post.
************************************************
A studious boy studies and succeeds in getting a seat at an IIT, is he lucky?
No, I don't think so. There is a reason behind this answer.

The next dream of every IIT student (male) is to have a female companion at college.......why am I
using such respectable word for the much common word "girl-friend"?
This also has a reason.

The boy finally enters into a relationship with an IITian lady (her classmate), is he lucky?
Again, no.

They both pass out of IIT with spectacular offers, is he lucky? ...err are they lucky?
No, certainly not.

Finally, there relationship takes a decisive turn. The most important event in a person's life is marriage. They are finally engaged and their wedding ceremony is due on 6th December. Are they
lucky?
No.

Around a week before their marriage, the girl came across a bad news. Her fiancé was shot dead at Mumbai. The
terrorists did this to end an eternal love story.
This justifies the above phrase (title of this post) about marriages. However, I'm quite depressed.
I know a friend whose mother was also a student of Prof. Banerjee, the father of the boy who died.
The Professor also teaches my friend. He is also very upset after this incident.
Some serious steps need to be taken to demolish terrorism.
I don't know who is responsible for this shameful attack on the financial capital of India, but obvious finger points towards someone, and I don't want to name them. I may be wrong but I cannot help my emotions. India is still a developing country. India is still not a safe country to live in. India is not poverty free. Our democracy is not democratic enough to handle many critical situations.
I just salute the people who have lost their lives in Mumbai but I've special affection and empathy for the girl and his fiancé.
Malayesh and Khushboo were made for each other.
Destiny had different plans. Life has been quite unfair to the couple.
I cannot gather my thoughts to describe Khusboo's present state of mind but she would be definitely in shock. She was all set to tie the knot next week. Now her world has fallen apart.

They (Malayesh and Khushboo) are definitely not so lucky!!!
Their story will always be in my memories.
Marriages are made in heaven!!!

PS: You can visit their webspace about their wedding from here
PS: We should stand together and fight against terrorism
PS: BTW...have I deviated a lot and started writing bad posts??PS: Going home tomorrow.
PS: I'll not be able to blog too much for a month, but please keep commenting as I would definitely be checking my e-mail's
PS: BYE

My score is 1-2 !!!

I know that some of my last posts are very much engulfed by my thoughts about IIT but still I can't help as this post is also not going to be different in respects of IIT blab.
Kindly handle my lunacy.
My life so far has only seen three goalposts and my score is 1-2.
As you read "1-2" you might be tempted to comment something on my perception of looking life.
I know considering the positive frame of mind you are currently in or not may think that "2-1" would have looked better.
"There are always two ways to look at a half-empty glass."
These views may trigger your thoughts about me. You may think that I'm a pessimistic dolt.
However, I'm a kind of person who is among the rare cricket fans of India who troubled his eyes late-night and witnessed the most part of the famous NatWest final between India and England. There was a time when India's chance was very bleak, but I still couldn't resist my temptation to watch the match till the last bowl. It's not the only occasion, I can articulate a list of around 10-20 matches but I don't want to hurt my blog hits, which is also not so good these days.
In short, I'm an optimistic creature with a little introvert behaviour which makes people think that I'm very boring, dull and self-centered but there are a lot of reasons behind this unusual behaviour.
At first instant you might think that I'm no different person but if you spend some time with me you will discover my boring personality further.
So here I go with the actual story for which the blog post is published..
***********************************************
I'll carry from the "1-2 score.........."
The goalposts (are/were):
1. To secure admission in a good school at Ranchi (my score 1-0).
2. To do engineering from an IIT (...... 2-0).
3. Read further to discover yourself, but I declare that my score is (1-2).

People at IIT are quite ambitious; to be frank I'm no exception to this rule. However, I don't like doing everything which is a potential catapult for my career. Jerks might write an essay story about themselves but I've just a line to describe myself ,"I do each and every thing passionately, either I fully commit to a task or I say a loud and clear "no"; I cannot do a chore half-heartedly".
I may sound very arrogant but I don't prefer my humble attitude to couple with my so far negative post to hurt my ego.
I had only one dream after coming to IIT. I always imagined myself as a core-team member of the organising team of the SpringFest (the annual cultural fest of IIT Kharagpur). I tried to emulate the personalities of some members of the core-team in my dreams. My mind was occupied with the planning needed to get in to the team.
The wait was over as this august just few weeks after the start of third semester the selection process started. The first round was the traditional GD (group discussion) and interviews followed for the candidates who cleared the GD.
I reached the Gymkhana (for GD) very late. I mean was among the last four guys to give the GD. There were questions about my delay in coming for the important GD but my reason was genuine as my train was unexpectedly late by two hours.
However, I was able to impress the seniors with my GD.
Yeah! The process of intake in the team is looked after by our seniors. I kept my fingers crossed until the results were out.
I was among the few 50 out of 150 (plzz.. forgive the figures are not exact) to sail through the first round.
The next day we were called for the personal-interviews. I was a bit doubtful about my chances but still I'd a feeling that there is no reason that I'll not be a part of the core-team. I'd to wait for a long time for my turn to come. Finally, I was called. After the interview everything changed, it was not difficult for me to realize that I'm not going to be a core-team member. The reason was quite obvious. Politics at IIT Kgp is really a cause of worry. I lost my third dream just because of the silly politics which has ruined IIT Kgp.
It was really difficult for me to handle my emotions, I was left shattered. My interview got over at around 12:30 am (night) and the state of disbelief made me cycle around the kgp campus thrice.
It took me quite a long time to come back to normal frame of mind.
It is not that I've forgotten my dreams about SpringFest but now I have few reasons to be at IIT Kgp.
1. I'm in my Department's fest "Great Step" organising team . This was the first edition of the Great Step which took place on
1st and 2nd November. It got a sponsorship which was worth more than the sponsorship Kshitij (Annual techno-management Festival of IIT Kharagpur )got when it started.
2. I’m also associated with one more society at IIT Kgp which is doing very well; SFIH.
3. I’m happy at IIT Kgp.

I end my post with a positive note that my score is 2-1 (and not 1-2).

PS: This is one of my rare posts which doesn't have a girl character.
PS: I'd a great weekend; Swastik(the rock band) came to IIT Kgp.
PS: Thank-you for reading a long post.

Chapter3:This girl is not happy

If you have not read chapter1 and chapter2, read them

She adduced me the cause of the change in her mood. She pointed to a cute, sweet baby who was giving a beaming smile. I know that girls love babies but still couldn't apprehend the cause of her giggle. So with no delay my gray cells ordered me to quench my curiosity with help of Vaishali.
Vaishali started belaboring. She further pointed to the baby. This time I noticed a thing which should have been noticed much before. The sweet creature had performed the indispensable act of
peeing on his father's lap. I thanked god for this gesture by him. Sometimes to make one person smile you need to do some funny, embarrassing things but they are worth it. The father of child must be not feeling good about this but still it made Vaishali smile was more than enough for me at that moment. I saw vaishali displaying her beautiful smile. I felt like hugging her, but I restrained my feelings for her as it is not permissible or morally correct in Indian culture to show such public
display of affection. Once again our chat started.
Vaishali: So, Ashish do u have a girlfriend?

Me :( clean bowled by her question) Nopes (shyness evident).

Vaishali: Are you dating somebody?

Me: No (I couldn't understand what the difference between the two questions is?).

Vaishali: That suggests only two possibilities.

Me: What are those two possibilities?

Vaishali: Either you are not interested in girls or you have bad experiences with girls

Me: What prompts you to think so?

Vaishali: You don't look like a boy who is inherently female repellent.

Me: Hmmmmmmmm.......

Vaishali: I mean you are the kind of boy every girl would love to spend her time with.

Me: Is it?

Vaishali: You struck me as an affable sort of man, honestly.

Me: My pleasure talking to you.

Vaishali: Hey wait!!

Her cell phone rang and she had to receive. While talking I noticed something about her which
cannot be detailed on this public blog (I know what you are thinking....my job is done).
She looks soooooooooooooo sweet while she speaks, and sweeter while on cell phone. The smile
on her face is for the gossip which is through the cellphone, isn’t it sweet?? Technology has really
invaded most parts of our life. After a long time (veryyyyyyy long) I opened the book (V.S.Naipaul’s...).
Till I could comprehend the first line I was disturbed by Vaishali.I was waiting for this disturbance.
It is strange that sometimes you love yourself to be disturbed.
I was yet again disturbed by one SMS in my cell phone.
I didn't like this disturbance.
SMS:
The best kind of friend is one with whom you sit on a bench saying nothing & when you get up and go,
you feel you had the best conversation of your life
----Trisha

Yeah Trisha has this habit of sending messages which sound too philosophical but they touch
your heart. So sorry for this distraction but I get a little bit too emotional about Trisha. Remember
her????
To know her, visit this.

After I finished the ceremonial message reading I was questioned by vaishali. The question was quite obvious, “who had sent you the SMS".
Me: Ohh!! She is Trisha my friend

Vaishali: Friend or................????(Obviously vaishali was unaware about this)

Me: Childhood friend and nothing more......

Vaishali: Okk!!

Vaishali reminded me that we are just few minutes away from reaching our destination. I just hated this. I wished I'd more time with her. The train was on time. I wonder why train is always on time when it's not necessary but late when you have to reach on time. Murphy's laws also remind this fact. So I'd to now say good-bye to Vaishali and hope that I keep meeting more Vaishalieeesssss.

PS: Finally this chapter series ends...
PS: Keep reading my blog
PS: My next post will not be a series but it will be the post which I'd admire a lot

Love at Last Sight (...yeah u've read it right)

7:05 AM, I don't remember the actual date, School

She came jumping with joy as if she had just won a chance to meet Aamir khan (her favourite actor).
" Hey Ashish! I've a good news "
-our heroine of the story
Don't think I'm a person who thinks too much......but
the above line is still live and fresh in my
tiny brain cells.
To say the least, this line certainly changed my life. I became a different Ashish.
You all must be wondering how these insignificant words can have such an effect on a person as stubborn and intuitive like me.
Believe me now I'm going to tell you a secret of my life which many people are still unaware.
...........................................................................
So story continues...
Me:hey ! What's the good news?
SHEEEE (let her name be this): My father has got a new job at Andhra Pradesh, and we'll be leaving next month after the school closes for summer vacation.

This was the statement which made me feel," is it good news? (Certainly I didn't ask her)".
There's something wrong!!..............I mean really wrong, for the last decade or so since I knew her (from my childhood days), we never were great friends or good friends, I remember one incident when she was seriously hurt by my truthfulness.....let's leave that....
So, the gist is we're just classmates .............that means only classmates not at all friends (forget good friends...........)
But I don't know why I felt there’s something wrong ...............seriously wrong with me.

I was flabbergasted by this incident. I couldn't handle that, I felt the birth of a new Ashish.

Then comes the actual story which changed my whole life. I owe everything to that incidence which made me a real man from a school boy of class 9, who still was unaware of the gift of puberty(I know you all would guess what I mean and you are Damn!correct..10 on 10).

My bathroom became my weeping room. I never had cried for anything in my life, not for any toy, not for sweets, not for ice-creams, in-short I was quite content with my life, as they(everyone) always knew what I needed when.
It was a very different experience for me ,as I always used to see Hindi films and think why do a girl and boy love each other, what are the pecuniary benefits of this sort of feeling when after all one day you'll get married with a handsome amount of Dowry Groom or a pretty good looking girl (99% probability)??

But, SHEEEE (yeah she, the heroine of our story) created such an impression on my heart that it was very difficult to understand that what is wrong with me???
School turned out to be my favourite place for the following 25 days..............my major part of thought process diverted towards analyzing the geometry of her face....I tried to guess ,"is her face in accordance with Pythagoras magical ratio(needless to say I was good in maths)".
My face was always in right angle to the direction of the teacher to imagine myself with SHEEEE.....It was a change I couldn't think of in my dreams!!!
In the mean time how those 25 days passed is still a mystery for me.....
Those 25 days really gave a new dimension to my personality; I wrote my first poem dedicated to her ...which was presented to her on the last day before she left finally leaving transcendental and permanent effects on my life.
I still remember the first line of that poem...
"O SHEEEE! O SHEEEE! Don't go....
..............................................."

So, people I declare finally that I realized that I'm (was) in love.
But this realization couldn't help anybody (certainly not me) as since then we've never seen each other..........to be more precise it has been six years when I last apprehended her beautiful face.
I still think that was my feeling genuine? Was/am in love?
What do you think? Considering my level of maturity at that age........I was yet to cut my 15th Birthday cake....
So, please give your view as I'm still looking for an answer......I still miss her.........But some part in me always says that is this love..........????
So, do you believe in "love at last sight"????
Waiting for your reply......

[Update] : We share a special friendship now. I have lost my immaturity a bit!

Confession.......my Crush..........??????

This post is rather an official confession. In one of my recent posts I was telling you about one of my crushes.

Well somehow that person never read the blog but people still bug me about the crush......date,and all those crazy stuffs........

So, I would like to ask a question from you......

If you are a boy,how many girls were/are a part of your fantasy?
and,for girls, just think of the persons whom you really liked and..........?

Let me guess your answer ......
If you have answered the first question-3,four/more.........

Girls' reply could be these:

1."I never had any crush, ohhh I'm sorry...no boy could ever impress me......"

2."I don't know...maybe 1...maybe more..."

So,at least we boys are honest enough to tell the truth...we do have that guts....

Sorry, ladies don't be acrimonious on Ashish.....plzzz forgive me........

Well coming back to my

confession and crush(es)

wait for some more posts I would be definitely telling all you people about various other crush and dating stories....keep visiting Ashish's blog(this of course) To Be Continued.....

My First.......................Date!!!!!!!

So here I go again...........

I called her( let her be X, b'coz if she reads this I'd be in a lot of trouble).

I was lucky enough to listen the sweet voice of 'X'(as I'm not that smart to enunciate about my friendship to her parents).

In nanoseconds she exclaimed ,"ohh tum.... ashish!!!!".I was just swooning over her voice .
After some gossips(chuuggli) she asked: R U FREE 2MORROW AFTERNOON????.
It was one of my dream phrases that she chose. And how could anybody say anything other than a big and loud "YES" to her if she is supposedly your 2nd crush. So, we decided to meet at a very posh area of the town . The most important day of my life arrives.............TUMSE HI ...(my ringtone ) wakes me up.

I receive the call and ........
Ohhh!!I'm so sorry I'll be there in 5 minutes(as u might have guessed I was convincing miss.X and she was acrimonious). I reached there after taking my perfume bath .
Guess what...........
....................
.....................
......................
She was in no mood of dating me but she needed a reaaaaaaaaaaally geek IITian to come with her to the Library. OKK!!!at least my grey cells could impress her( height of imagination and hope) We talked about everything except the thing for which I was there............
.
But, finally I thought that serendipity has struck me as from nowhere she told:CAN U JUST DROP ME AS IT's tooooo dark now. I was awestruck and could not say NO. But , once again that lady(x) disappointed me...
....
.....
So, what I'm searching MISS.Y kahin to.. kahin to.. hogi wo..
