AAP Story & its Side-effects

Just a few years ago, it was ok to to label all the political parties into one category and collectively dismiss their every action or the lack of thereof. Then comes a man with an ambitious & well-timed action plan to change the political narrative of India. Now, it was cool to support this man’s political outfit, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He had everything a thriving middle-class well educated armchair-activist citizens of India dreamt of in a politician; an elite engineering degree from IIT, a background in social work & his anti-corruption vehemence. However, he had already over-stayed his welcome as an anti-corruption hero when he tried to capture a permanent place for himself in the psyche of Indian populace. The sequence of events after that is very well known to almost every Indian on social media. His ambitions never stopped and when reality struck him, he compromised with a CM’s post in Delhi. So, far governance has been zero and activism maximum despite being in power. 

While the political party, AAP was trying to gain political mandate it amassed help from all well-meaning people of India who had been frustrated with rampant corruption. Soon, there was widespread polarisation within the tech-savvy generation who earlier where united in their political ideology. Now people who didn’t support AAP labelled the AAP politicians & supporters as AAPtards and Narendra Modi led-BJP supporters known as Bhakts. Now it was AAPtards Vs Bhakts. Over the past one year AAPtards started getting disillusioned, a portion of support has been lost but not everything has gone from AAP to BJP.  While, it was cool to donate funds to AAP & openly support Arvind Kejriwal it is no longer the same. He has led down a huge fraction of people who supported his initiative. He is now seen as a dictator.

This turn of events is not good for other less-greedy & less-corrupt political outfits, which are many in India. Sadly, not many know about them! These parties would be seen with a lot of cynicism. If things go on the same way, the political mess would always be unsorted & repel young responsible citizens of India. All due to Arvind Kejriwal. 

I missed a flight

I know you must be thinking: "Who misses a flight?" , "How can someone miss a flight?" , ... But I missed one. My tryst with flight journeys have always been paralleled by emotional turmoils in my life. Yes!

So I had to board this flight from T1 Airport of Delhi (the old one). And, I was late by 10 minutes. Only explanation I can think of is "bad karma" as I was caught up in a highly unlikely traffic jam. Thinking about bad karma, this trip marks a lot of changes in my growing up. I am more than 25 years of age but I still need to mature a lot. I have to learn to deal with romantic pursuits in a better & sane manner. Yes, I did face troubles in my love life, yet again!

But this time, I was lucky enough to have a superb support system in the form of family and few very special friends. I would categorically like to thank this person I respect a lot for the time which she took out to free up my mind from the overhang. In this way, I discovered that there are always people who care for you, may be different sets of people at different times. Important aspect is that there are always people who like you. You just need to keep your senses receptive enough to feel it. Or else what is the difference between us, sentient beings and robots?

A Movie worth watching : Delhi 6

Delhi's Chandni chowk rather the whole old Delhi in “Times Square”. This is what it takes to make someone like me to write my first movie review but of course in a not-so “thesaurus English”, just before 20 hours from my midsemester exams.
Rakesh Omprakash Mehra after the success of “Rang De Basanti” comes up with his new film Delhi- 6. A.R.Rahman is once again at his best by giving some exceptional tunes and creating a vibe in the film which makes even a “non-delhite” immediately associate him being in Old Delhi. Delhi-6 truly justifies its title by putting the essence of “delhi-6” in the film. The movie had each and every taste of contemporary India in which the director is an expert. Untouchability or silly superstitions or the media's role in creating controversies or communal disharmony or woman trade in the society or improper bringing up of children, he has filmed everything in this movie. It tries to say that “Swades” could have been made in a better way. It smartly passes the message to the audience. Though in incorporating everything in the movie the subtleness of the movie is lost but still the audience will truly enjoy this 2 ½ hour movie. Abhishek Bachchan finally comes outside the shadow of his father after movies like “Bluffmaster” and “Delhi-6”. His overworked American accent is not that bad to get that he plays the role an NRI in the movie. His chemistry with Bittu, played by sonam kapoor is not that perfect but still the “monkey clad Abhishek Bachchan and sonam kapoor” hug deserves applause.
The dialogues are honestly written which makes the movie worth watching . The movie is successful in disguising people with the whole Chandni Chowk shots which are actually shot on set.
Now for people who don’t want to spoil their exams.
In brief, the movie is about Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan), a typical NRI young man, who comes down from New York to “Delhi 6”, with his grandmother, nicely played by Waheeda Rehman. Roshan finds it difficult to get the atmosphere of Delhi 6 which is actually Chandi Chowk. This is what the movie tries to articulate. Roshan finally decides to stay back in India to fight with the overhyped menace of the “Monkey Man”. Bittu is dying to break free and be a free bird to participate in the next round of Indian Idol. Will Roshan be able to save the day? Or will he return back to his home and stay off these troubled streets of Chandni Chowk? Watch it yourself after exams are over.
Now, if you want to spoil your exams further do watch “Dev d” and quickly fast forward “Billu Barber” to the last 20 minutes for the modern “Krishna-sudama” speech in a self-praise SRK movie.

PS: I'm really having no time left for my exams after watching the movie and managing some time to write my maiden movie review.
